Rainbow House

On Monday, 20th February the Reverend Graham Halsall [Dep.Pr.G.Chaplain] made a donation of £1,000 to Louise Ross at the Legacy Rainbow Trust in Mawdesley. This was on behalf of the Fun Day Committee from the funds they had raised in 2011. W.Bro. Graham is its Chairman and he was accompanied by Mrs Lynne Connolly and the Provincial Grand Master: who all spent over an hour being shown around the facilities and meeting some of the children.

In her letter attached, Louise Ross gives the overall picture of their work. They take approximately 90 children per week on half-day sessions for 'conductive' education in basic life skills.  This is particularly for children with brain damage, from all over South Lancashire [including Blackpool, Bolton, Liverpool etc].  This service is in addition to their specialist or main stream school.  The Rainbow Trust gets no government aid and relies on grants, donations, the many charitable events they themselves organise and an on-site day nursery.

Our Mark Province was not previously aware of this charity, but other freemasons are.  Louise Ross spoke highly of Leyland St. Andrews Craft Lodge [particularly their ladies]; also two other lodges from Chorley and St. Helens who have been generous to them. They had also been visited by W.Bro. Phil Gunning [APrGM, Craft & Past SW Mark]. To say that the visit was inspirational would be an understatement.

Members of the Fun Day Committee are :            W.Bro. Rev Graham Halsall [Chair]
Mrs Pauline Halsall
Mrs Lynne Connolly
Mrs Gloria Hickson
W.Bro. Stuart Cowburn
W.Bro. John Bicknell has served two years on the Committee but has now retired.
W.Bro. Eric Drinkwater and Mrs Tegwen Drinkwater act as Treasurers for the Fun Day.

All the above wish to thank the Lodges for their wonderful support - and look forward to seeing you on 7TH JULY at BAMBER BRIDGE.
